I close the list of the 106 participants in this amazing contest. The principle is simple : Whoever gets the most extra RSS subscriber by July 31st wins some great prices.
Now that I am in, I will need to come up with the right strategies to win this competition. Would we accept less than winning? Hell no!
I think this contest is what I needed to get the necessary motivation to work on the number of my RSS subscribers. I will have to be creative this month.
During the whole July I will be showing the Initial count next to the current one, so that we all keep track of the evolution.
I don’t have clear ideas about what I am going to do, but I know for sure that I will need all of your support to win this, and that I will be offering great incentives for my readers in case we win this battle. So for now, I will ask you to subscribe by email, so that I know how to contact each of you on July 31st when we win, and also to get updated real-time, in your inboxes, about my strategies.
So, everybody subscribe. Time is fading out. This is going to be an awesome experience.

After a few days of thinking (diversity or focus), the decision is made : FOCUS! I started working on my monetization programs messaoud.info and decided to keep the following :
Google AdSense TTZ Media
Project Wonderful Widget Bucks
Kontera Banstex AdToll Scratch Back
Focusing on these programs will allow a better control of the blog, lighter page loads, and a nittier design on which I am still working, removing the big skyline header, and opting for a simpler use of colors.
To compensate and exceed what was generated by the removed program, I am adding 3 other direct sources of revenue :
- Direct Ad Sales : 125×125 buttons costing $7/month. These come with a FREE 7 Day Trial offer.
- Stripe Ad Sales : Text Links on the Stripe visible on the top of the screen for $5/month. These come with a FREE 2 Day Trial offer.
- Paid Reviews : These are sold directly too. $15/review.
More details on the Advertize Page.
I think it is the right time to start selling Direct Ads, since the blog is now PR2 and Alexa ranking is starting to go down again (it reached 300,000 at some point, and then I had the hosting issue, and it started to go up). As Jay, from DatMoney says : “I am one of the biggest procrastinators”. Now it’s time to get things going and get this blog to generate some more money after the time spent on getting traffic. I won’t go the porn way, Jay, but I will put some more efforts on generating more and more interest around the blog : more quality posts with more frequency, more socializing, and many sleepless nights.
More to come in the next days. And hey, I forgot to tell you that I set up a new Contact Form, so don’t hesitate to share or ask questions.

These last days, this is the main dilemma I am having : Should I continue diversifying my monetization sources on the blog, or should I choose 1, 2 or 3 programs and take all the others off?
Honestly, I can’t decide !!
Pros and Cons : A comparative work
To help me decide, I put this list of (+) and (-) for each option. I am doing this work live while writing the post, so I will discover how it looks like at the same time you do. Here’s how it comes out :
Diversity :
(-) Confusion from the visitor’s side
(+) Not putting all my eggs in the same basket
(-) Less paying programs could overlap higher paying programs and thus the revenue potential decreases
(-) A lot more time to manage all the programs
(-) The blog looks messy with a lot of little banners flashing here and there
Focus :
(-) Less alternative solutions in case one or more programs are not performing well
(+) Clearer and nittier look for the blog
(+) Less time to manage all the programs
(+) Higher chances to catch the visitor’s attention towards one of the programs
(+) Gaining bigger expertise in the programs that I focused on.
Analysis and decision making :
Hmm… look at that. Apparently the choice is easy. Well. I don’t know! Does anyone think of any other points to put under each of the lists? I may have missed something here, for it looks too easy.
Do yo guys have an opinion? Can you advise?
